Everybody knows that the key to weight loss is eating healthy and being physically active. However, there are other factors which contribute to gain weight or weight loss. Let’s take a look at them.
8 Morning Habits That Are Causing You To Gain Weight
1. SKIPPING BREAKFAST
If you tend to skip breakfast, you may be wrecking your metabolism. When a person eats a breakfast in the morning, the glucose levels and the energy become stabilized, and the cortisol (stress hormone) levels become lower.
Also, when you start the day with breakfast, you won’t feel that much hungry later in the day, and you will avoid consuming too many calories.
Even though getting plenty of rest is essential for the body, oversleeping can be as bad as not having enough sleep. Oversleeping is linked to heart disease and diabetes. Also, if you tend to hit the snooze button too many times, you will be in a rush when you get ready, and you won’t be able to make yourself a healthy breakfast.
3. SKIPPING THE SCALE
Being aware of your current weight is a great way to motivate yourself to lose weight. It is best to weigh yourself every day or every other day, preferably in the morning after you have used the restroom. Also, it is better to have less clothes on you.
If you weigh yourself often, you will notice if your weight raises during the cycle, or you have water retention. However, if you do strength training you should be aware that muscle weighs more, so you may have a bigger number on the scale, but look slimmer. This doesn’t mean your body isn’t having positive changes!
4. CHOOSING AN UNCOMFORTABLE OUTFIT
If you often dress in tight dresses and high heels, you will most likely avoid stairs and walking for too long. Therefore, if you wear a looser fitting clothes, and flats you won’t have any problems to move to and from the office.
5. FILLING UP ON THE WRONG CARBS
We shouldn’t avoid carbs because they give us energy. However, we should consume healthy carbs, particularly for breakfast because they will fuel our body. You should consume more oats, bananas, apples, mango, Greek yogurt, chocolate milk, blueberries, quinoa, and sprouted bread.
6. SKIPPING MEDITATION
If you practise meditation early in the morning you may be able to lose more weight. This is due to the fact that you take deep breaths and you relax yourself, and therefore you lower the stress levels and the blood pressure.
7. NOT STRETCHING
Stretching is a great way to loosen up the muscles, get the body ready for the day, and clear the mind. You don’t need to spend a lot of time in stretching. Just make sure that when you do this you stretch yourself gently and avoid injuries. Do this in the morning and you will feel more energized.
8. IGNORING YOUR MORNING CUP OF WATER
Before you reach for that morning cup of coffee, drink a glass of cold water first. It will wake you up and it will maintain proper balances (digestion, nutrients, temperature). Also, your belly will be filled with water and you will less likely overeat.
